Oil on canvas; 1892I haven’t posted any J.W. Waterhouse in a while.
So this is one of my favourites of his paintings. I got to see it when the Waterhouse exhibit was here a couple of years ago and no photo really does justice to the colours. The vibrancy of those blues …wow. Also, for me, it is one of the most unnerving pieces of art to look at. The look on her face when you’re standing in front of it …kind of creepy.
(This is also always what I think of when someone talks about Chris Colfer’s eyes.)
I would love to see this in person. Plus every other Waterhouse painting ever.
